Extreme Domain Name Makeover | Live Case Study | Discovering the Perfect Domain

Domain Name and your http[Roll the original version of Star Trek's TV theme music in the background.]

NARRATOR:

Your domain name.

The initial frontier.

It’s really the first stop and your entrance into the imagination of your targeted website visitor.

The real seduction of your visitor begins with your domain name that your visitors will connect with.

When you’ve mastered the art of creating an irresistible domain name, you give your business the chance to truly energize your audience, build an authority site and even a brand, and boldly go where no man or woman has ever gone before!

[Fade out Star Trek TV theme music in background]

It takes a dramatic theme song and long enduring franchise to get the point across that your domain name is the forefront of your online business.

The domain name is quite prominent even when your visitors start their search to find your site on Google (see image above).  It’s the last line someone sees in a Google search engine listing.

I wrote quite a critical article about domains back in 2005 when I was teaching the Art of Adsense.  And I don’t think I’ve written one since.  But one thing I’ve notice along my travels…

Quite often, I’ve discovered that many of my clients are focusing on the wrong things when creating their domain names and are either too general or trying to be too fancy (much like Manhattan advertising agencies).

Whereas, most folks design a domain name from their own perspective, I am constantly obsessed not with myself, but rather, with the end client and person who is going to arrive at the site.

What’s their fixation?

What’s their obsession that I can tap into?

And what are the images I want to implant when they arrive at my site.

Fact is, words, just like the ones you are reading on this very page are the doorways into your prospect’s imagination.

Much like I can begin to paint a very majestic blue sky feeling throughout you, but it isn’t without mentioning it can I arouse that thought or image in your mind.

So words, do in fact, paint a picture in one’s mind, just like the words that are consisted within a well thought out domain name.

It’s like a Jedi’s sword that slices through the resistance of your marketplace.

And, as the suspense begins to build within you…

This is where the real treat arrives in this article.

Rather than give you an entire lecture based on philosophy and describing concepts, I will share with you an actual case file from one of my own clients, Seth Fogel, whom I had a tizzy fit with over a domain name he chose for his brand new Kitchen Remodeling website.

It was catchy, don’t get me wrong, but it was lacking the ability to make visitor foam at the mouth (not literally) — that’s the effect I’m after.

And this domain name left a lot to be taken advantage of.

After walking him through the entire process of uncovering the ultimate domain name, he never looked back at his old domain name again (but he had to find a way to hold on to some shred of his own dignity).

I can whole-heartedly say that the change will easily result in far more sales and literally a pre-sold, entranced prospect that is ready to be sold their new, custom made, top notch, granite kitchen.

I am actually going to take you through the entire psychological process I did with my client so that you, too, can master the art of creating a domain name that will have your visitors drooling before they ever read one word of your website copy.

Everything is a build up, much like the seduction of a lover, much like the mood of a really good evening.

So right when someone is glancing over the Google organic listings, they are ready to be seduced from the moment they lay eyes on your domain name, they are titillated to continue reading and so on.

Create Response Driven SEO Video Content without Shooting a Second of Video

Or:  How to Legally Steal and Acquire All the Video/Audio Content You Could Ever Wish to Have At Your Disposal; Royalty-Free and Ready to Use

5 Part Video Series on VideoIt’s a fact.

Google loves multi-media content on your web page.

So much so, they bought the struggling You Tube back when it couldn’t afford it’s excessive bandwidth and no plans to monetize the site.  Perhaps Google gleaned just how important video would be in 2010.

Did I just say “important”?  My mistake.

It’s now over five years since You Tube was founded (February 2005), launched later in November and video was much the word in 2007 (since Google purchased YouTube about a year after it launched (and exploded).

In some circles, it’s been a “must” since 2008 and I’m going to say that it’s literally “mission critical” now in 2010 to have some shred of video content that engages your visitor.

Even if you don’t want to engage your visitor, you need to produce video, or find it somewhere in order to submit to video sites for backlinks.

You see, video and video submission sites like DailyMotion.com, YouTube.com, Revver.com, and a bunch others are becoming a double-edge sword, much like Article Directories.

You get passive SEO benefit from some of the video submissions that pass along some PageRank and then there’s the fact that the video you submit itself can rank (as we’ve seen with LGMSH, especially if you pamper the video with a proper title and description.

Google, nor any of the other search engines, can’t READ the video content or media you upload, but they can read the title you give the video, including how elaborate you are in the description.  (I have found the description to be key especially for nesting a hyperlink back to my site).  :D

In some of the sites, you can place your site URL, your Twitter, your FaceBook, or whtaever you want to promote, and sometimes you can even drop a link in your description that gets followed by the search engines.

It’s been well known for some time.  Having some You Tube video on your site can even favor a higher listing on Google than your competitors.

So why aren’t you using it, or at least submitting some to video sites?

Well, I used to think that it was because I actually had to make my own video in order to submit a video.

Someone hit the buzzer for Jim!   :P

I’ve taken a survey from hundreds of individuals and they told me that they just don’t have time to create video content.

Not only can you find video, audio, text, content, media, PDFs, public domain stuff, pictures, you don’t even have to record a lick of video footage yourself.

No one even has to see your face or hear your voice for you to be as sexy and seductive as you can be.

You sexy and seductive?  Sure — with this kind of video, it’s easy.

Lightning Fast Google Rankings in Olympic Record Breaking Time

Short Track Speed Skater Going for the GoldGetting Google rankings is essential to receiving highly qualified and targeted traffic.

Many webmasters don’t like to wait and want lightning fast results.

In the speed and spirit of the Winter Olympics, this post will discuss fast indexing and Google rankings done in record-breaking time.

Introduction

It was less than a couple of nights ago when I was watching the closing ceremonies for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

The games were over, the incredible hockey game between the U.S. and Canada decided, and there I am, going through withdrawals. :D

“More sports, more snowboarding, more something — don’t leave now — I was just getting into it!”

The Winter Games are my favorite by far and the Vancouver games were tops.

Something got me really fired up about these Olympics more than any others.

So obviously, I’m looking forward to the Sochi 2014 Games four years from now.

As the closing ceremonies were playing on in the background at around 11:15 p.m. PST, I got an itch decided to create a content site that would report on news for the Sochi 2014 Games in Russia.

With over two billion people viewing the opening ceremonies, there is obviously some global interest and high traffic demands (and memorabilia is the monetization angle).

I also thought to myself and challenged myself to get the site not only indexed within 24 hours, but get keyword phrase rankings before the 24 hour period was up.

I’m talking break-neck speed here.

Some webmasters and beginners that literally can’t even get their site indexed in Google, let alone get a keyword phrase ranking.

The Setup and the Target

Those who know me well know that I never setup any website or business without first setting the target.

Sure, I’ve got my 24 hour deadline, but what is the keyword phrase going to be.

So I decided to challenge myself with a very HOT trending word:

My RANKindexing Solution Explained and How to Spot Gaping Spider Holes

If you are an active Platinum Access Member member of Search Engine Seduction, then you already know the value of getting inbound links to your sites.

It’s been preached inside for years and there are literally at least 20 hours of in-house content on this topic alone.

In 2010…

Without inbound links, your site is dead in the water and no way to gain any search engine power, let alone any search engine rankings that may be worth their weight in salt.

Well, I just recently released my simple and easy way to get a page ranked for a keyword in the low competitive range or to just simply get a site indexed and gain rankings shortly thereafter.

Knowing full well the power of adding this amazing formula to our marketing is essential, but why exactly does this stuff happen?

Understanding the origin of why exactly there are certain places to put links that draw the search engine spiders right to your page and even forces Google to index and rank that page high nearly within the next 4-24 hours is critical.

This is why I call it my RANKindexing solution cuz it takes care of two birds with one stone.

In fact — my RANKindexing solution solves even another problem. By doing what is mentioned below, you begin to use multimedia, which Google loves to see embedded in pages and starts you on the way to engaging your audience in a much richer way.

Just take a look at the top article with the video embedded here in the online consumer market research Google results.

And the why is simple here.

Once you understand the origin of something, you are well able to spot OTHER places on your own. Gaining independence and making your distinctions is the underlying theme of this article.

One quick word of mention.

These rankings that you gain are not temporary, of course. They can be permanent much like the ranking above.

But how you do this is extremely important.

See, we’ve already brought up backlinks, and…

The more BACKLINK SUPPORT you give these pages by way of external social bookmarking and/or social network links, you’re going to make certain that keyword phrase you show up for on page 1 of Google will remain there for some time to come.

So without further ado, I’m going to explain why my 10-Second RANKindexing Solution is so effective, how to perform it, and exactly how to spot large gaping spider magnet holes just like the one I found. :D

Wasted Links on Your Pages

Did you know that having multiple links on a page that point to the same url can actually hurt you?

In saying this, I’m assuming you understand some basic concepts…

Google assigns a numerical Page Rank value to each and every URL based on the quantity, quality and relevence of the links which point to it.

That “link juice”, if you will, gets passed through those links to each of their destinations, with some additional “relevance” which gets assigned through the anchor text from the surrounding text, through the Alt image tags, and some say, even the image title tag.

Whatever the PR value is, Google forces 86% of it to “flow through” or “pass along” to the rest of the links on that page, both internal and external.

This of course, means that the more links there are on a page, the less PR there is available overall, getting passed through each one – so, in other words, yes, the more links that exist actually “hurt” each of the other links, and nofollowing them doesn’t help either!

Nofollow – The Changing Rule
A nofollowed link allows you to prevent link juice from flowing where you dont want it to go, hence the term “link condom”.

Originally intended to minimize blog spam, clever search marketers realized that by nofollowing certain links on a page, you could then channel the extra link juice exactly where you wanted it to go – i.e. to your most valuable pages, and only through good anchor text.  Hence the term, PageRank sculpting”.

In June of 2009, Matt Cutts of Google effectively announced an end to PR scuplting, while speaking to a group at SMX Advanced in Seattle.

He explained that they were no longer allow the unused PR to be refocused elsewhere, and when asked “What happens to the PR of a link which you’ve nofollowed?”, Matt replied, “Think of it as, “evaporating”.

Yes he did say “evaporating”, and I was sitting right there!

That Changed My Thinking
This drastic revelation changed the way many people looked at copywriting, site structure, and even link building in general..

Looking around the web, you’ll often find multiple links in articles, which is great. Internal links move the spiders around your site, and it’s great to share the link love externally.

However, what I also see a lot of, and the whole point of this article, are multiple links to the identical URL using different anchor text, and that’s something that should be avoided.

Only One Link Counts?
Only the very first instance encountered of a link to a URL, either image or text, followed or no followed, will pass relevance.

Yes you read that correctly, and although it’s been widely publicized and it’s been that way for quite a while, and plenty of testing has been done to “prove” it, there are still a lot of people getting it wrong.

Whichever link the search spider comes across first, is considered to be the “winner”, and all the fame, glory, and link juice relevance gets passed through that first one – all the others are ignored.

Now that you know that multiple instances of links to identical URLs are completely useless, you have to see how they can also actually harm you, right? Each link decreases the overall amount of page rank you have to flow through that page.

Remember as Matt put it, that extra link juice “evaporates”, so why would you allow very many of those to just suck more life out of your page?

Yet as you bounce around the web, it’s not uncommon to realize that there are an awful lot of confused people out there, who didn’t get the memo.

How many websites are there which have a big image link at the very top left of the page, which points to “home”, yet in the footer, they link back to the main domain name gain?

How many blog posts get written with text links to their most desirable areas, which also happen to be in the upper navigation?

How many websites have multiple links in the footer of their website which were placed there out of “tradition”, but now exist merely to bleed off value?

Remember a couple of years ago when you may have added nofollow to some of them, like privacy, security, contact, etc.?  How much stronger might every single page on your site be, and how much juice might you pass along internally, simply by cleaning out that footer and your sidebars?

How many articles get submitted to the article directories where multiple links are allowed, but there are replicated links in the content, and in the author bio. What a waste!

Think carefully about where you’re linking to, and examine your navigation, sidebars and footers for unnecessary and potentially “damaging” links, and your site can be even more seductive.

Link building in 2005 vs. 2010- A Look Back

Whenever someone point black asks me “What is the most powerful thing I can do for my website to get it noticed and get free visitors from Google and other search engines?” — here’s what I say.

Concentrate on distributing content all over the internet that you control and can also control the words that are used in the hyperlink pointing back to your site (known as “anchor text“).

I always like to use visuals for those who have a hard time seeing this.

Let’s say for instance, that a cumulus cloud out in the sky represents the entire body of World Wide Web content on the subject of golf below:

Cumulus Cloud representing the Golf NicheThe dots in the cloud above represent hundreds of pieces and pockets of webpages, videos, audio, pdfs and other content.
