As usual you are right on target! Backlinks I believe are the most critical in the SEO and SEM arena. Content is the King, but only becomes more relevant, when others deem it to be so. There are many ways to create backlinks, but those derived from natural means are the most valuable.
Gaining some initial links by other White Hat techniques is a good practice, but once this is done, you should focus on great content! That will keep the Locomotive charging down the tracks.

It's*********. It's not completed yet because I set myself a goal to follow your process by a particular time and ran out of time to write/amend the copy.
